‘Mado’ means window. The inspiration for this table came from an old Flemish custom of yesteryear I experienced at my grandparents. After dinner, neighbours would come outside
and get together. People would meet in the street: they’d sit on doorsteps and lean against window sills while the kids were playing in the streets. They would be chatting, playing or having a nice cold beer.
Mado is that window sill of yesteryear. It is not meant to be a ‘table’, but a meeting place for neighbours, friends, strangers in the street where they can come together, share their thoughts, have a laugh, have a drink and meet.
The cloud-like shape of the top represents thoughts and ideas. The colour is dichroic mother of pearl. I chose this colour because
it reflects the light and is ever changing.
The construction is made of steel piping with a concrete table top. These materials are sturdy and long-lasting
