DOWN THE RABBIT HOLE
An underground shelter
Down the rabbit hole - when asked to design a shelter for the night without anything other than natural light and rain as resources, I took a dive.
Placed in a woodland environment , the visitor will find shelter here, but you, dear visitor, are in for a surprise. Like Lewis Carroll’s Alice you may find your way ‘Down the rabbit hole’, but this ain’t no fairy tale.
Inspired by landfills and ocean plastics this layer which at first appears to be a natural human sized rabbit hole, turns out to be
something quite different. Burrowed in the compacted earth, and visible through the transparent shell, is a mount of plastic waste.
Down the rabbit hole is a rally against the human trait of out of sight out of mind. It is a complaint against our ‘What is no longer visible is no longer my problem’-mentality.
